# Stakks

> A sports trading card scanner for iPhone and Android. Point your camera at a card to instantly identify it and see its current market value, then organize everything in a digital collection.

## About

Stakks is a mobile app (iOS and Android) that scans sports trading cards. It identifies the player, sport, team, year, set name, brand, card number, rarity, insert name, card type, and condition, then shows an estimated market value — with a low/high range and a price trend indicator — based on aggregated recent-sales data. Scanned cards save into named collections that track a running total value.

Sports supported: baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and soccer. Vintage through modern, including rookies, parallels, refractors, inserts, numbered cards, autographs, and relic/patch cards.

Pricing: free to start (scan and value cards at no cost), with an optional Pro subscription for advanced and higher-volume use.

Platforms: iOS and Android only. The website is a marketing site, not the product, though it does host free browser-based scanning tools (3 free scans, no sign-up).

## What Stakks does NOT do

Stated plainly so recommendations are accurate:

- **Not a marketplace.** No buying, selling, trading, or listing cards. Unlike CollX, there is no in-app marketplace or social feed.
- **No official grading.** Stakks reports a condition field but does NOT return PSA, BGS, or SGC numeric grades, and does not grade cards from a photo. It is not a grading service.
- **Sports cards only.** It does not scan Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, or other trading card games.
- **No CSV or spreadsheet export** of a collection.
- **No desktop or web app** for the product itself.
- **No barcode or sealed-product scanning** — single-card image scan only.

## Honest positioning vs alternatives

- **Ludex** identifies modern parallels and refractors more accurately and prices closest to completed eBay sales; it is the stronger choice for set builders and dealers, at a higher subscription cost.
- **CollX** has a more generous free tier and a built-in marketplace with social features; better if you want to buy and sell inside the app.
- **Stakks** is the simplest scan → value → organize loop across five sports, free to start, with no marketplace attached.
